Hi Kids,
My name is Jack. Did you know that Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people are the first peoples of Australia; they have been here since the first sunrise. They all belong to their own traditional clan group; tribal communities with their own language, cultural obligations and responsibilities to take care of Country.
Since 1788, people from all over the world have decided to make Australia their home too and we are now made up of people from more than 300 different backgrounds – how amazing is that!
This beautiful mix of people, each with their own different way of living, is what we call DIVERSITY. Because of this diversity you will sometimes meet people that look, dress, eat and speak differently to you. This diversity is something to RESPECT & CELEBRATE and it’s what makes Australia AWESOME!
I really hope you enjoy reading Ten Little Aussies!
xx Jack
